While They Were Gone...
It all started with a dresser.
This dresser...
It's an older wood dresser with some really neat details.
After living with boys for many years it had some issues that required a major makeover.
The right time finally came when the boys were gone for two weeks.
It was sanded multiple times, wiped down many times, primed, and then painted.
The drawers were sanded, the knob holes filled, sanded again,
wiped down, primed, and painted.
While the dresser was out of the bedroom, I noticed how awful the walls looked.
I think we painted them when we moved in over 11 years ago and they
had certainly not improved any in that time frame.
Since I had only planned to paint the dresser, I had thrown the boys'
clothes on their respective beds, making a fine mess.
Those all had to be packed up so we could pull the beds out of the room.
This kind of mess is exactly why I do not like painting.
In the midst of all this painting, I decided I might as well fix up the bargain headboard
I had picked up for $1 at a yard sale.
Here it is primed and partially painted.
Then I pulled my handsome handyman into the picture.
He put new handles on the dresser drawers.
(Finding the right handles only took trips to three different stores.)
Then he applied the vinyl letters to the headboard.
Once the walls were painted, the trim looked really bad so I painted that too.
That led to painting the trim around the doors in the hallways.
Then I started looking at the hall walls and thought about how they
really needed a new coat of paint.
At that point I made myself stop because I could see this turning into
a whole house painting job.
Besides, I was really ready to get the mess cleaned up.
The Finished Projects:
***************************
My fortune cookie paper said,
"Listen to yourself more often."
"Listen to yourself more often."
Nathan's reply, "You might as well, no one else listens to you."
That was the confirmation of what I already suspected!
