June
{Part 3 -- San Francisco}

We were privileged to have a friend of Bethany's for three weeks
as a guest in our home.
Since she has no memory of her only trip to CA
when she was two, we thought it best to fit in some fun tourist trips.

San Francisco is always high on the list of places to visit.
We don't typically go there during tourist season but we braved it this time.
It was very hot at home so we greatly enjoyed the cool damp weather.

Golden Gate Bridge

Hiking down to Fort Point under the bridge.

You can see the fort in the background under the bridge.

The fort was built during the Civil War to keep southern ships from
entering the bay.  The only ship to arrive showed up after the war had ended.
Due to their time at sea, no one on the ship knew the war was over.

Baker Beach and the Pacific Ocean.

Lombard Street
Making our way to the top.

Going down the twisty part.

The Cable Car Museum

The cables that run under the street to make the cars move.

Making a pressed penny.

Supper in Chinatown

It's how we travel...
There's always that one perky person in every group.

***************
When we left S.F. in the early evening it was 55*.
We arrived back home two hours later and it was 95*.
That was a shocking 40* jump in just a short drive.
